Decided to pig out at Malaysia, so roped the 'Malaysia-Know-It-All", Jack, coupled with Baby's buddy and her guy friend. Seriously, Malaysia can be a rather nice place, if only they would stop robbing Singapore cars.
We went to Taman Sentosa for some fantastic seafood...
Kebab of various meat.
The sauce given is a bit weird, and too spicy too.
Cereal prawns. Don't look appetising in the photo, but it's really good.
Baby kailan, or so I think.
Fresh & sweet.

Hmmm...
Everyone's favourite - Chili crabs!

Fried 馒头
Sambal lala... Yummy!
Total bill chalked up to be about RM$150. The crabs were quite ex, but overall I thought it was rather okay, though Baby said it was too expensive.
Then we went to Tebrau City to catch the following movie.
Everyone who know me would know that I'm not a sucker for such movies, but 少数服从多数, so ended up watching Fast & Furious 4. I must say though, it's a rather nice show. Baby said that in US, the movie is like a stimulator show, you will feel as if you are really in the cars. Wow, that would be so exciting!

And for those who have never been to Malaysia to catch any movie, you should really try it. The condition of the cinemas are just as good as those in Singapore, and most importantly, it's super cheap. Weekend ticket is just RM$11! It's like half the amount we spend in Singapore.

Next up, I wanna try the karaoke...

Happy Birthday to me!

April 03, 2009 0
While there was no big fanfare this year, I felt really happy. Happy because when things are kept simple, you get to savour the sweetness and sincerity in them.

The week started weird when I argued with Baby 3 days before the surprise. Though we almost instantly made up, I was still angry for being unreasonable.

28th March 2009

There was supposed to be a celebration for grandmother (cos' our birthdays are just a day apart), but Baby insisted that we had to go for his friend's ROM party at East Coast, which at a point of time, I was wondering to myself, "Why is his friend's ROM more important than my grandma's birthday?"

I was suspicious throughout the journey, but I just ignored that bugging noise inside me. When we finally reached, I was brought to an empty chalet where the doors were closed.

"How can there be nobody at the ROM party?"

Baby still insisted on checking out the empty chalet, and when we opened the door, I saw a"HAPPY BIRTHDAY" banner across the room. My instant reaction, "My god, your friend is having a birthday too?"

Then someone came out from the background and soon I was covered in that confetti thingy that came out of the spray can. It was messy, but I was touched. I almost teared when I saw so many great buddies gathering together to make this possible. Of course, it wouldn't be possible without my Baby too. Thanks for all the co-ordination and effort and money put in for this. I love you!

We had a simple BBQ that night, and boy were we happy! All the guys were barbecuing for us, and us ladies were just sitting down, ordering and enjoying our food. I've always enjoyed BBQs and this was really great.

Everyone who made it possible

We ate, fooled around and even played "Heart Attack", but the condition of the chalet was really very bad that Baby didn't want to stay. So in the end, the entourage went to Baby's house for our favourite past-time: MJ!

30th March 2009
My actual day of birthday. Went for an early interview. Baby was supposed to be on leave, but he had to attend a meeting and hence I went home after the interview and surfed the Internet. He came over at around 3+ and we went out. He had a little surprise for me! He brought me to Fullerton and deep in my heart I was thinking, "Is he planning to spend the day here just last the last Valentine's day? But he had already spent so much on the BBQ/chalet."
Anyway that wasn't the plan. He had brought me there for manicure/pedicure. I had complained to him that my cuticles are getting thicker and he took note. Unfortunately, I wasn't in the mood for that, so I settled for manicure only. Anyway their skills were quite lousy, don't think I'll ever visit them again.

Me with my nails

Then we went for a movie after that. I told Baby that I wanna catch Confessions of a Shopaholic and we went to Suntec for the show. God knows, he had already planned to bring me there, and had pre-booked the tickets in advance. He bought the couple seats and they were huge!

We're both 27!

The show was nice. Really appreciate the fact that Baby is willing to watch such a girlie show with me.
After the movie, it was a really sumptuous dinner at Sembawang, with all the seafood cooked in sambal!
Really, it's all these simple stuff that touches me.

31st March 2009

Bro is treating us for dinner because he won the first prize in 4D. The entire family went for dinner at 店小二. Was pleasantly touched when Mum insisted family to sing Birthday song for me after dinner.

Opps. 安全裤! *bashful*

1st April 2009

My lunar birthday and baby cooked 面线 for me.

Yummy!

Like I said, it wasn't exactly something to booast about, but I thoroughly enjoyed this year's birthday because things were kept simple and heart-warming.

Thank you once again.

Western attempt

April 02, 2009 0
Baby's parents are out of town. Hence decided to try cooking again. This time, the menu was Western food.

1) Mushroom soup
2) Caesar Salad
3) Fusilli with cream sauce
4) Black pepper chicken chop
5) Almond jelly with longan

The horrid chicken fat that I had to remove from the thighs. GROSS!
My accomplished task.
A rather well-balanced meal, with meat, vege, soup, carbo.
I must say, it really tasted not bad.
Nice & creamy fusilli. A tad too dry cos I added the cream too early though.
