TABS go to ILUMA

July 28, 2009 0
Introducing my new workmates- TABS Creative. We're an in-house agency within our main company that deals with watches. I've got 2 designers and 1 executive.

From me clockwise
Sarah (Designer), Sally (Designer) & Dawn(Executive)

Stacey(Senior Brand Executive), Sally & Dawn
Me and Sarah

Anyway we went to the Japanese restaurant at Iluma, I guess the food was okay. Nothing to really 'wow' about. The interesting thing is probably the fact that they have a lot of different styles of Japanese food in different sections. The sukiyaki section has waitresses dressed up as maids.
I dunno what was broccoli doing inside the chawamushi. Yucks!
Salmon sashimi was so-so. Pretty close to Ichiban
Onden
Unagi don & ramen
My ramen & gyoza
I forgot what this is called, but quite nice. Flavourful.

Give it up for Sharon!!!
I made it to work today with public transport, and I don't mean by cab. It's the first time I managed to commute to work via public transport since I started working. I guess for people who know, my workplace now is not exactly accessible and I don't really know how to get there. I was late for about 15 minutes but important thing is I made it, without losing my way. Haha

Anyway it saddens me that the more people together, the more the incompatibility shows. Does that imply that humans enjoy masking their true feelings and till a point that they're sick of hiding it, they will let go? The tolerance and forgiving nature will eventually disappear and at the end of the day, humans are just self-centred. I guess I'm the same too. I'm a homo-sapien after all.

treading new grounds

July 17, 2009 0
Called me suah ku or what. But I just realised that the image I've been using as the header of my blog is actually the image from Burberry. I hope there's no copyrights involved, but I'm so happy cos I kinda like the brand pretty much.

My fourth day @ work and I must say that I'm probably not so accustomed to it, but I seriously do hope that this would widen my horizons and build up my portfolio. Things are a bit different over here, cos my department is somewhat like an external ad agency for the main company. And we're on different floors, so I have lotsa liberty and freedom. But being new, I can't really exercise that option yet.

No doubt I'm Marcom, but the brand managers and executives are really the one who are deciding on the marketing efforts. I'm just someone who does the collateral and press releases. But I guess cos I have to maintain good ties with the media, I will enjoy all the fun stuff cos we do have lotsa media luncheons of sorts.

I'm still a bit blur on my area but I guess I'll just get used to it. I mean who knows how to walk when they were born. Also realised that many people are pretty new here, so I guess I'm not alone.

An exciting event is coming up next Thursday where we would have a birthday bash at St James. I'm getting a bit jittery about it though. Well if you are in the area, do pop by to say hello.

P/S: I'm dying for MJ!!!

我回来了!

July 14, 2009 0
Hi, I'm finally back on track in the corporate world. I knew I'll not be gone for too long. Guess the haircut was worth the $$$, brought me luck!

This time round, I'm back with a vengeance! Nah, just kidding. To be frank, I'm a bit apprehensive about the job because "great powers come with great responsibilities". And the downside of this job is that it's soooooo far from my house!

Anyway my department is small, with 2 designers and 1 marcom executive which adds up to 4 of us! The gals are nice... I think we'll make good friends.
♥♥♥♥♥

Just to share with you guys my new hairstyle, done about 2 weeks ago at Midori. I must say it's the first time I tried a Japanese stylist and I'm pleasantly surprised by how detailed she is. My stylist is Toko, but there are actually 2 other senior stylists and I've heard they do great work! The only downside of this is that they charged relatively more than normal salon. Considering my most expensive cut was probably at $20, the $65 bill was overpriced. But I like it there! Will definitely go for a more significant change 3 months later.

Healthy lifestyle for you and me...

July 13, 2009 0
Decided to get my lazy butt working over the weekend. Went to East Coast to cycle again!
Those people who really know me would be surprised that I actually reach at 9.40am!
No mean feat (at least for me) I would say.
Met up with Sy and son. The weather was good; sunny but very windy.

Playing with the not-so-fine-and-clean-sand-at-east-coast-beach.
Apparently I had so much fun with the boy that someone mistook me as the mother. Even Lucius' darling mum said I should get a kid of my own. Haha, maternal instincts kicking in...

The lovely sandcastle we chance upon.
Apparently Sy said it has been here since last year. Hmmm, how come I dun recall seeing this the last we went?
Look at how small Lucius look beside me! My god, I'm like a giant! Lucius, Sy & me!

Woah, I've got all the $$$ from mummy's wallet!!!
Pouting lips

It was fun, nonetheless tiring. A healthier person is definitely a happier person, so let's embark on some healthy lifestyle now!!!

Fears...

July 06, 2009 0
Have you ever been consumed by your fears before? Have you ever been kept awake the entire night by your fears? Nope, I'm not writing a scary story, but I just wanna share with you one of my secrets that haunted me last night.

Beware: this might seem really silly to some.

To be frank, I've always been afraid of death, because I'm afraid of the unknown. I dunno what will happen to me when I die. I fear for what it is to come, and how would my friends and family feel? It all started when I saw a scene in one of the channel 8 shows where Ivy Lee was in a coffin. I reckon I made the connection of death with myself because she's a young person, but she died. From then on, I'm always haunted by the fear of the unknown after life.

But what I'm about to share is something that really happened to me before. It's one of my secrets in life too. And because of this, I couldn't sleep last night.

Time goes back to my primary school days. My parents are working adults and I'm often left at home with my elder brothers. This day, I was asked to go pack lunch back. When I returned with the food, I got onto the lift with another guy probably in his 30s. As I came out of the lift, this guy approached me and asked if I could bring him to a particular unit number. Coincidentally, that's the unit number of one of my brother's friend. So I thought I was being helpful, and brought this guy to the flat. On the way there, he introduced himself as a dentist from the school and he needed to find the student due to some dental problems. And when we finally got to the place, he told me that was not the place he was looking for even though the unit number is correct. So he asked me to walk around the block with him to help locate the student.

Then we went another part of the block, down a really dark staircase, suddenly he told me that he wanted to stop the search. He said since he couldn't find the student, and being a dentist, he wanted to examine me. He first told me that he needed to check my BCG, then he told me that he wanted to check my mouth. I was shocked. I didn't know what to do. I was afraid. I told him my brother was waiting for me. Upon hearing that, he let me go.

I ran home and told my brother about it. He was furious and ran downstairs to find this guy. He didn't find the guy.

It may seemed like a pretty harmless incident, but it's just plain scary to me now that I'm older and can think of all the possible scary outcomes that could have happened. I mean, he was much bigger and stronger, I don't think I stand a chance if there was a struggle. And god knows what he might have put into my mouth if I really opened it for his "examination". And it puzzled me till now why he let me go. That place was quiet, dark and I was just a feeble kid. He could have done anything. My only guess is that he got startled when he heard me mention my brother.

That kept me awake last night. The possibilties of what he could have done were just running in my mind. Scary...

So it's really important that kids know how to react in situations like this. I mean, in real situations, it doesn't matter what you learnt in school. Your mind would go blank. You'll never be able to perform a perfect CME action.

For that I'm never gonna let my child out of my sight before he/she hits 15! Make that 25!

I'll share another scary encounter with a pervert/stalker another time.

Heavenly melts!

July 06, 2009 0
Guess the number of times I ordered McDelivery last week? A whopping 4 times!!!

And I discovered this new heavenly dessert that they called cinnamon melts! My god, it's super nice and it only costs $2.50! Just one of the nights, I decided to call for a delivery when I felt a sudden urge to drink so coke. Then baby told me to order at least till $10, hence I decided to try out this new item. It's just so delicious, and most importantly, it taste just as good the next day when you microwave it.

My favourite dessert at the moment~
