I guess at my age, everyone should be getting married, or so many think.
Last Friday was my lunar birthday. Mum wanted to celebrate for me. Called me and wished me 'Happy Birthday'. Got to talk to my dad. It's been ages since I saw him. Not that we're not living together but that by the time I reached home, he's fast asleep. Other days I'll be at Chris' house.
So I was expecting to be scolded for this. Instead he just chided me gently and went on to ask me to get married. I pretended not to hear and went on asking him about dinner. My dad is a persistent guy, refusing to give up, he repeated this at least 3 times before I gave up and acknowledged him.
I told this to Chris and he was beaming. Even wanted me to ask my dad if he thinks he's a good candidate. So surprisingly when I reached home yesterday after 2 nights of not going home, none of them scolded me. My bro, mum and dad. All seemed okay. I dunno if they've gotten used to it or that they didn't wanna spoil the birthday dinner they've organised for me.
Then Chris' mum told him that should we get married, the parents must meet one another first before anything. The 2 of us cannot decide and go ahead with it. Ha~
I mean I know I wanna get married soon and it's most likely to be Chris but the time is not right and you can't ensure that nothing would go wrong between now and then right? I'm not being pessimistic, but I just wanna be practical lest anything goes wrong.
Anyway just read in Soo Hui's blog that Alvin proposed. I'm so glad for her. It's amazing how the two good friends got proposed to in a month's frame. First it was Siew Yen and now Soo Hui. I'm so glad for them. To think that just recently we attended Tracy's wedding and were still asking when is the wedding date for the 2 of them. And there you have it.
10 years ago, we were still dumb lasses donning that yellow and turquoise uniform. 10 years later, the dumb lasses have evolved into mature ladies who are/will be getting married. It's pretty scary how time flew past. Nonetheless its part of life. Soon we'll no longer be clutching dinner bags under our arms but babies! We shall see whose turn will it be next.
