Bangkok 18th-21st Aug 2008
DAY 1
So Baby came and fetch me from work to the airport.
Along came his sister, bro-in-law and mum.
Haha, I felt so paiseh to have the entire entourage to send us off.
Even my own family wasn't there to send us off.
Food is good but can't eat too much cos' there's food onboard.
Reach Suvarnabhumi airport at 2230h.
Cabbed to Baiyoke Boutique at 450 baht.
Due to my cheapskateness,
I didn't bother to book the hotel for the 18th.
Well I thought since we'll reached in the morning of the 19th,
I wanted to save on the accomodation.
But being an ex-hotelier,
I should have know better.
So we had to pay on the spot for the extra night.
Thankfully Baby wasn't pissed at all.
Just nagged at me for not heeding his advice.

DAY 2
Woke up at 09oo and had breakfast at the hotel.
Breakfast was simple fare,
not exactly the type you would expect at a hotel.
But it was okay.
Simple.
Washed up and decided to go venture.
Since this is Baby's first trip to Bangkok,
I wanted to bring him to Grand Palace.
But when we wanted to get in the cab,
the driver alerted us that my skirt is too short.
Hence we decided on going to Jim Thompson's instead.
Great choice. This place is lovely.
Jim Thompson is this guy who came to Bangkok.
Fascinated by the Thai culture,
he settled in Bangkok and built a beautiful mansion.
So in his house, there are lots of beautiful antiques.
He's also the one who made Thai silk famous.
Anyway he disappeared on one of his trips in Malaysia,
and then his house is now open to visitors as a museum.
It's an amazing place to visit,
to see the artifacts and collections.
It only cost 100 baht,
so do visit it when you are in BKK.
Spent about 2 hours plus here,
and decided to walk to the shopping areas.
A very long walk under the scorching sun.
Finally reached MBK.
Wanted to go to Siam Discovery Centre to catch 赤壁,
but they only had it in Thai. *my god*
So decided to find lunch instead.
Wanted to visit MK restaurant in MBK,
but couldn't find it.
So settled for Jap food.
However when we finished and proceeded to shop,
I found the restaurant!
I've remembered the floor wrongly.
Sigh, next time then.
After about 2-3 hours of shopping, we went back to the hotel to rest.
We had planned to visit this novelty restaurant.
but it was raining very heavily.
After about an hour of deliberation,
we decided to go ahead anyway.
It was still pouring when the stupid cab driver left us.
He told us that it's just a short distance from where he left us.
Pack of lies.
We had to brave through the rain and asked so many people for directions before we get there.
Stupid driver.
Anyway when we reached,
the restaurant was packed.
Good publicity, I guess.
So we had to wait for our table,so we decided to have foot massages while waiting.
After about half an hour of waiting, we finally got our seats!
Food is normal.
Nothing fantastic but pretty good ambience.
Can't visit Suan Lum cos it was too late & still pouring after dinner. So we cabbed to the hotel instead.

DAY 3
After breakfast at the hotel,
we took the BTS to Chatuchak Weekend Market.
Felt a bit faint,
so we hopped on the market tram.
Left the market soon after and proceed to Erawan Shrine.
After praying, we decided to walked to my favourite shopping haunt-
Platinum Fashion Mall.
Had KFC for lunch over there.
So much to shop, so little time.
I'm not kidding.
This place is like a paradise.
Even Baby commented that it is the best shopping place in Bangkok.
But we were too late and by soon,
the mall was closing.
The shops here close around 5-6pm.
So the next time when you drop by, must remember to come early.
Since most of the shops were closing,
we decided to proceed for dinner.
We went to Nam Sing.
This place was recommended by my bro.
Used to have one outlet in MBK,
now there's only one at Chinatown.
So we took a tuk tuk to the restaurant.
Food's good and cheap.
And best part is the waiter speaks Mandarin.
No problem in ordering food.
Proceeded for massage with our arms full with shopping bags.
Cabbed to Health Land where we indulged in Traditional Thai Massage.
This place offers great value for money-
2 hours at 450 baht.
After the rejuvenating massage,
we cabbed back to the hotel.
Finally... after a long day.

DAY 4
Slept till late and didn't make it for breakfast.
Wanted to go to Platinum Fashion Mall again,
but decided that time was not on our side.
Hence went to the surrounding market area for some last minute shopping.
Returned to the hotel at 1330h and prepare to return home.
Cute figurines at the counter of the hotel.

Finally reached home!
