Day 3
It's the day of Universal Studios Japan and coincidentally DarHub's friends were in Osaka as well, so we met up to go into USJ together!
Milk tea to start the day! |
DarHub got sick of my camwhoring antics |
Before heading in, we had breakfast at Eggs 'N Things just outside of USJ. Apparently it's a Hawaiian concept that serves all day breakfast.
My plain waffles |
His friends actually worked in USS and the last time we visited USS, we had this super amazing pass (her namecard) that we could advance to the express Q and it was even better than the express pass given that it was not a one-time usage!
So I thought it was gonna be the same but it turned out to be even more amazing whereby staff lead us to the front of each Q. At times, we even took an express elevator to take the next ride!

So thanks to Miru and friend, we managed to try out all the rides except the one in The Wizardly World of Harry Potter whereby they are also "denied of their special privileges". But for the rest of the rides, don't miss out on the really exhilarating The Flying Dinosaur!
So we chiong for all the possible rides and after that, DarHub and I went our separate ways from his friends to take time to visit the Harry Potter World and the rest of the theme park.
Quick lunch @Mel's |
Beautiful skies |
Excited for Butterbeer! |
Ramen for dinner |
So it was a super tiring day and DarHub insisted that we had to walk back to our AirBnB which almost killed me. I had to stop every 50m or so as we alighted from the train to head back. I sat on whatever was available including lamppost, electric box, etc. I really thought I was gonna die on the way back. I made in nonetheless in the end. LOL.
Day 4
It was the day that we headed to Kyoto, my most looked forward place this trip. Back in uni, I did a module in Japanese Studies and was super fascinated by this ancient capital.
Stayed at this rather nice hotel, ダイワロイネットホテル京都駅前, near the Kyoto station.
Lunch at a random eatery near the hotel |
Unfortunately as we visited Japan during the rainy season, it was kinda raining the whole time, especially in Kyoto. So we rested for a bit before heading to 錦市場 to check out this famous market.
Also walked around 祇園 (Gion) & 花見小路 (Hanamikoji). Had dinner at MOS burger cos the restaurants just looked too atas and expensive! Of course, we thought we might bump into 芸者 (Geisha) or 舞妓 (Maiko) but as how others said, hardly any of them can be seen.
DAIMARU - the store from our childhood! |
And since Crystal mentioned that she had the best ぎゅ丼 in RedRock, I had to try it though I already had dinner. It was a decent beef bowl but the experience was probably not the best since they refused entry to DarHub who doesn't take beef. The staff said that every customer need to order at least 1 beef bowl in order to be seaten. But because we ordered earlier at the door through the vending machine, we didn't know that. In the end, DarHub had to go and walk around since I couldn't cancel my order as well.
Not for those who cannot take raw beef |
