ThrowbackTuesday - Taipei Countdown NOT

Finally after so many years, I got to board the EVA #HelloKitty flight. It seemed to a lot of my friends that this is damn weird, that the biggest Kitty fan they know has yet to go on board this flight! So anyway I finally managed to book a holiday on this flight (only departure cos the arrival timings are quite horrid) for a year end trip to Taipei.
Historically this is my busiest period and it's almost impossible that I can go on holiday, and 2-week this time! But since the new direction in Marketing that the regional team in HK makes all decisions and local market just has to execute, I couldn't be bothered anymore!
It's always been my wish that I witness the Taipei 101 countdown but it's almost impossible due to work. But since I'm not getting any more work satisfaction, I decided to just go ahead on this holiday!
Setting off on a Friday morning... Even the boarding passes are KT!

And of course, the flight information needs to have Sanrio stars too!
Splash of colours - much needed in my life!
So instead of the usual places that we frequented, I wanted to explore "newer" places so we visited some places that we've never done so. So instead of our usual hot spring choice, Wulai, we opted to go to New Beitou for a new experience.

Visiting the Thermal Valley
Interesting juxtaposition of hot spring in cold weather

Just chilling on my wall
So New Beitou is really a chillax area with nothing much to do. Besides the Thermal Valley, there's hardly much to do or visit. I missed out visiting the museum though cos it was so crowded when we passed it and it closed by the time we got back. So probably not a place worth staying too long, probably 2D1N or even a day trip will suffice.

So we headed back to Taipei, more specifically XMD, to check in at City Inn hotel after 2 nights at Beitou. Nice place, clean and quaint. Location is decent as well. Then we met up with DarHub's friends for dinner and escape.

Hotpot dinner
@Limitless, we escaped! Worth a try if you are a fan.

Then it was NYE and I really wanted to go to the Taipei 101 countdown but sadly it was raining and super packed! We ended up watching movie at his friend's place, which honestly was a tad disappointing. I didn't travel all the way to Taipei to watch TV in a house. Consolation is the people there commented that I looked like a celebrity. HAHAHA.

Loved the Christmas decor @ Xinyi District

Wanted to have Ichiran for lunch but the Q was deterring. Ended up at some Korean fushion place.

没有跨年,至少有打卡
Here's the very place we spent our countdown. Didn't move from my spot for at least 5 - 6 hours. :(

So NYE was a disaster but that doesn't mean the rest of our trip should be! So we headed to Huashan Cultural Park on New Year's Day, and I love this place! Wish I could have more time to explore this place longer though.

Then I managed to buy the 2 items I set out to for this trip! #HelloKitty Converse sneakers & White Sneakers for daily wear~

Decided to catch the BumbleBee movie, cos we missed it in SG, before we head to Addiction Aquatic Development for some seafood! Since it was a weekday, we almost had the theatre to ourselves!

Will I be lucky enough?

Did we book the whole theatre or what?

Seafood is life, but first, beer~

Totally no plans for the last day, so it was impromptu decisions that we headed to National Palace Museum and another game of escape.

Seeing doubles

So this room was not as enjoyable cos there were lotsa of Chinese involved.

Took the Airport express for the first time and I must say this is really quite good. SG can definitely learn a thing or thing from TW.

Camwhoring on the train

Small check in area for Eva KT flights

Why do we have to come back to SG?
